Everything else remains identical to our PUR cold room panels: the same cam-lock joints, the same hygienic surfaces, the same temperature performance. The only difference is enhanced fire behavior where it counts.

What is the difference between rockwool and foam-core cold room panels?
Both use cam-lock joints, identical dimensions, and the same hygienic surface options. The core material differs: rockwool is non-combustible mineral wool (A2-s1, d0), while PUR is a combustible foam (B-s2, d0). Rockwool is the only cold room core that does not burn. Its lambda (0.040 W/mK vs PUR’s 0.022) is higher, so a rockwool cold room needs greater thickness for the same U-value — the trade-off for non-combustibility, plus an acoustic bonus. Choose rockwool when codes, insurers, or risk management require an A-class core.
Is a non-combustible core required for food storage cold rooms?
Not universally, but increasingly so. Can I mix rockwool and foam panels in the same cold room?
Technically possible (same dimensions, same cam-lock system), but not recommended. Using different fire ratings on different walls creates compliance ambiguity. Specify rockwool consistently for the entire enclosure to ensure a uniform A-class classification.
What about ammonia refrigeration compatibility?
Rockwool panels are compatible with ammonia (R-717) refrigeration systems. The non-combustible A2 rating of rockwool is particularly relevant for ammonia cold rooms, where fires produce extremely toxic smoke.
