The EPS facade panel is Real Panel’s most cost-effective insulated cladding solution. Using an expanded polystyrene foam core bonded between pre-painted steel facings, EPS panels deliver dependable thermal insulation at a significantly lower price point than PUR, PIR, or rockwool alternatives.
EPS (expanded polystyrene) has been one of the most widely used insulation materials in the construction industry for decades. Its proven track record, consistent quality, and ultra-lightweight properties make it an ideal choice for projects where budget efficiency is the primary driver — without sacrificing the core benefits of sandwich panel construction: speed, durability, and thermal performance.

EPS performance scales with core density. Higher density provides better compressive strength and marginally improved thermal performance:

EPS facade panels deliver the lowest total installed cost among all sandwich panel types. The savings come from three sources:

Because EPS has a higher lambda value (0.035) than PUR (0.022), you need a thicker EPS panel to match the same U-value:

Is EPS a good insulation material for buildings?
Yes. EPS has been used in construction insulation for over 60 years worldwide. Its closed-cell structure provides consistent thermal resistance, it does not absorb moisture, and it maintains its insulation value throughout the building’s lifecycle. While its lambda value (0.035) is higher than PUR (0.022), it compensates with significantly lower cost.
What is the fire rating of EPS facade panels?
Standard Real Panel EPS facade panels use fire-retardant grade EPS and achieve Euroclass E per EN 13501-1. This is suitable for many industrial, agricultural, and storage buildings. For projects requiring B-class or higher fire ratings, choose PUR (B-s2), PIR (B-s1), or rockwool (A1/A2) panels instead.
How much cheaper is EPS compared to PUR?
EPS panels typically cost 25–40% less than equivalent PUR panels on a per-m² basis, depending on thickness and order volume. Can EPS panels be used for cold storage?
EPS panels can be used for moderate temperature-controlled environments, but for true cold storage (below 0°C), we recommend our dedicated cold room panels with enhanced vapor barrier and airtight cam-lock joints.
What thicknesses are available?
EPS facade panels are available from 50 mm to 200 mm. Unlike PUR/PIR, EPS is not available in 30 mm or 40 mm thicknesses, as these would provide insufficient thermal performance for facade applications.
Is EPS affected by moisture?
No. EPS has a closed-cell structure that absorbs less than 2% water by volume, even when submerged. This makes it more moisture-resistant than rockwool and suitable for humid climates and buildings with condensation risk.
